My name's Pete, and I'm not the fittest person in the world. Somehow, though, I've found myself preparing for a 10K run in May, 2011.

This blog previously charted my various fitness activities as a means of self-motivation. Now, it's going to chart my training for this event, and beyond.

Gym

Hello everyone - you probably noticed that it’s been a few days since my last post. I had a bit of a dodgy stomach for the last few days and didn’t particularly want to aggravate it - when I first started feeling a bit queasy I did my gym session (and forgot to blog it) and then felt like crap afterwards. So I decided to take a few days off to recover rather than make things worse.

Of course, having spent this much time going to the gym nearly every day, this brings a natural feeling of guilt. “Should I be going?” I’d think. “Should I go to the gym? I don’t feel great, but I feel like I should go…”

I eventually decided not to and feel a bit better for it.

Got back to it today though. Even after a few days, I was expecting all my new-found strength and stamina (well, relative strength and stamina compared to how I was) to have magically dissipated, but I was pleased to discover that I actually still have it. This is a good thing, and will keep me motivated. I was genuinely concerned that having a few days off would mean I’d suddenly be crap again. Fortunately that wasn’t the case.

Went through my whole routine again today with the heavier weights and it wasn’t a problem. I now stink, however, so it’s shower time.
