My name's Pete, and I'm not the fittest person in the world. Somehow, though, I've found myself preparing for a 10K run in May, 2011.

This blog previously charted my various fitness activities as a means of self-motivation. Now, it's going to chart my training for this event, and beyond.

Resurrection

This blog used to be a powerful motivational tool for me, encouraging me to keep the world (but mostly me) updated on what I’d been doing and the progress I’d been making. Anyone who knows me in real life will know that the last year has been somewhat turbulent, to say the least, and as such any and all training programmes fell a bit by the wayside.

No more, though. I’ve signed up to run the BUPA London 10,000 and am in training for said event. Before Christmas 2010, I completed the Couch 2 5K running programme, taking me from someone who could barely run at all up to someone who can run—slowly—for over 30 minutes at a time.

That’s good, but it’s not good enough. In the weeks and months running up to the 10K, I’ll be attempting to gradually improve my speed and stamina to be able to give running 10K a good shot.

Right now, I can run 5K in approximately 45 minutes (including 5 minutes of walking as a warm-up). Over time, hopefully, that will improve—and I’ll be posting my progress here and via Runkeeper.

You can sponsor me, too, here. If you do that, I’ll have to do the damn run. :)
