Back to the Gym
No, I’m not dead! I’m still here.
Let me explain.
My computer went tits-up recently (well… the graphics card was on the way out, anyway, it hadn’t died completely) so I took it into the shop to get it fixed. This took a little longer than I anticipated so I wasn’t able to go to the gym or swimming because I wasn’t sure most nights if I’d be having to lug a huge 24-inch computer back home with me… and I don’t think that would fit in one of the lockers.
Following this, I was promptly struck down with, I don’t know, swine flu or something. Whatever it was, it gave me a nasty cough, a headache, a lack of sleep and a severe feeling of unpleasantness for most of last week and much of the weekend. Thankfully I’m feeling better now, and I have resumed my fitness programme with renewed vigour. I actually felt a bit guilty for not going, but I know if I’d tried to do any kind of gym work with a cough like that I would have probably been thrown out for sounding like I was about to die.
Anyway. That’s passed - mostly - now, so I decided to take the plunge and jump straight back in today. Fortunately, I was still able to have a good session. I didn’t feel like I was going to pass out during cardio work (and that’s normally the bit I find the hardest to slog through) and I could still manage all the weights on the higher levels I’d set them to when I last wrote.
I don’t know why I thought that taking time off would magically remove all my powers and cause me to have to start again from scratch. I guess I was applying RPG logic to it - I can’t leave an RPG alone for a long time, I have to start it again from the beginning if I’ve left it for a protracted period of time, and obviously this means starting again from level 1.
GEEK! I don’t care. It’s back on. Kick ass.
